Edge-Lit Exit Sign
An Edge-Lit exit sign is the most popular type of exit sign for high-end applications. Edge-Lit exit signs are the choice of architects, lighting designers, and engineers for office and retail construction. Edge-Lit exit signs have evolved over the years and now use energy efficient LED (light emitting diode) light strip technology for illumination. Exit signs are mandatory safety fixtures that help guide patrons out of a facility during emergencies. Exit signs are tested and certified for reliability by Underwriters Laboratories. LED Edge-Lit exit signs have two main components: a housing and exit panel. The housing for Edge-Lit exit signs contains a red or green LED light strip and is made from cast aluminum. The housing is available in colors of white, black, brushed aluminum, and more. The housing can be surface mounted or recessed into both drywall and suspended ceiling surfaces. The exit panel is constructed from a high-grade acrylic and features a screen-printed version of the word “EXIT.” The exit panel attaches to the housing allowing the LED light strip to illuminate the exit panel.
The VELE Edge-Lit LED exit sign series is the most affordable Edge-Lit exit sign that we offer. The VELE can be ordered with either a recess or surface mounting housing. The surface mount model can be top, back, or side mounted. The VELE can be ordered in both an AC only and battery backup model. The battery backup model is suitable for buildings that do not have backup power generators. The internal nickel-cadmium battery will illuminate the exit sign for a minimum 90 minutes after AC electrical power is lost, allowing patrons to safely exit the building.

The ALE series is a step up from the VELE and features multiple mounting configurations, including a wall recessed model with a 90º curved faceplate. The ALE series can be configured with automatic battery testing that decreases maintenance needs. The ALE can be ordered with an 8-inch faceplate that is compliant with New York City building code regulations.
