Emergency Lighting Unit

An emergency lighting unit is a light fixture that automatically illuminates the exit pathway of a building during emergencies. Emergency lighting units are mandatory lighting fixtures for buildings that do not have emergency generators. They are required by state, federal, and international building and fire codes. These codes mandate that at least one foot candle light must be present along the path of egress at all times. Emergency light fixtures utilize internal battery backup systems that enable the lamp heads to illuminate for a minimum of 90 minutes. Emergency light fixtures and their battery backup systems are tested and certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to last the standard 90 minutes. All Exitsigns.net emergency lighting units are UL Listed and approved for use in the United States, Canada, and throughout world.

There are many different types of emergency lighting units suitable for different types of environments. For indoor commercial use, thermoplastic emergency light fixtures are the most popular choice. Thermoplastic fixtures are affordable and durable with the EL-1 series beginning at less than $20. The EL-1 is offered with housing color choices of black or white and features two, easily positioning 5.4-watt emergency lamp heads. The M60 is an affordable low profile thermoplastic emergency light with fixed mount lamps. The EL65 is a stylish thermoplastic unit that features gyroscopically mounted MR16 lamps.
