Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting refers to light fixtures that illuminate during emergencies where power is lost, such as fires or earthquakes. Local, state, and federal building codes mandate that emergency lights must be installed in buildings without emergency generators. Emergency lights are required to provide a minimum one foot-candle of illumination along the path of egress at all times. Emergency lighting fixtures are used in conjunction with emergency exit signs to help building occupants exit the facility during an emergency. Exitsigns.net manufactures and sells more than 50 models of emergency lighting fixtures, from retail to industrial grade. All exitsigns.net emergency lighting fixtures are UL listed and approved for use in North America and throughout the world.

Emergency lighting fixtures rely on compact and powerful internal battery backup systems that provide operational power when electricity to the facility is lost. Emergency light batteries constantly charge while connected to AC power; this ensures that they will provide a minimum 90 minutes of operational power during emergencies. Exitsigns.net emergency lights utilize nickel cadmium, sealed lead acid, and sealed lead calcium batteries. To test the functionality of our emergency lighting fixtures, simply press the push-to-test button to illuminate the lamp heads. A number of our emergency lighting fixtures come with additional testing options such as automatic testing and self-diagnostic testing.

Our most popular emergency light, which is also our most popular, is the EL-1 series. The EL-1 is a thermoplastic emergency light with two 5.4-watt incandescent lamp heads and utilizes a nickel cadmium battery backup system. The EL-1’s thermoplastic housing is flame-resistant and offered in colors of black and white. The EL-1 is suitable for wall, ceiling, and junction box installations.
