Emergency Sign

An emergency sign is more commonly referred to as an emergency exit sign. Emergency exit signs are required to be installed in all facilities, above doorways and throughout corridors. Emergency exit signs feature the word “EXIT” illuminated in colors of red or green. Emergency exit signs are required by federal, state, and local building codes. Emergency exit signs have been in use for more than 60 years. Originally, emergency exit signs were powered by the conventional incandescent light bulb. LED and non-electrical exit signs have replaced incandescent exit signs.

LED (light emitting diode) emergency exit signs are electrically powered exit signs that use 90% less electricity than incandescent exit signs. Additionally, the LED light strips in our exit signs last for 8 to 10 years, so maintenance costs are drastically reduced. LED exit signs are an easy retrofit installation for existing incandescent exit signs. You will save time, money, and energy though retrofitting your facility with LED exit signs. We manufacture more than 50 models of LED exit signs. Our thermoplastic series is the most affordable, our cast aluminum the most durable, and our Edge-Lit models the most aesthetically appealing. Consider the environment where the exit sign will be installed to figure out what sign will suit your application best.

Non-electrical emergency exit signs are the most efficient and longest lasting exit signs we manufacture. Our photoluminescent emergency exit signs have a 25-year lifespan and illuminate using industrial strength glow-in-the-dark pigment. Photoluminescent exit signs are popular for low-level applications. Make sure that there is at least five-foot candles of ambient light present on the face of the sign at all times so that it complies with building and fire code regulations.

If you do not have five-foot candles of light present at all times, such is the case in many buildings, consider installing self-luminous exit signs. Self-luminous exit signs use tritium technology, a glowing form of hydrogen gas, to provide constant illumination for up to 20 years with no need for an outside power source. Our self-luminous exit signs are popular for both high and low-level applications. All of the emergency exit signs that we manufacture and sell are UL Listed and approved for use throughout North America.
