Emergency Signs

Emergency signs most likely refer to emergency exit signs. Emergency exit signs are illuminated signs that reads “EXIT” and whose purpose is to guide patrons out of the building during emergencies. Emergency exit signs have been in use for more than 75 years and are required by state and federal building codes. All exit signs must be illuminated and remain illuminated even after AC power is lost. Electrical exit signs use compact battery backup systems to remain operational when power is lost. Non-electrical exit signs do not rely on any outside power source so they do not require any type of backup system. For new construction, non-electrical exit signs eliminate the cost to run a dedicated emergency AC circuit. For retrofit projects, non-electrical exit signs are a simple install, requiring no electricity. Non-electrical exit signs can last up to 25 years and come in many face color and frame color combinations. Photoluminescent exit signs glow-in-the dark and are suitable for indoor applications where ambient light is constantly present.
