There are two types of exit signs: electrical and non-electrical. Electrical exit signs use energy efficient light emitting diode (LED) light strips to provide even illumination that lasts for 8 to 10 years. LEDs have become the standard light source for electrical exit signs because of their low energy consumption and minimal maintenance costs.

Non-electrical exit signs do not require power and are ideal for applications where electricity is not easy to access. Instead of hiring an electrician to run electrical conduit to the installation site, install one of our two types of non-electrical exit signs. Self-luminous exit signs use tritium, a glowing form of hydrogen, to provide constant illumination that lasts for up to 20 years. Self-luminous exit signs are suitable for outdoor and indoor installations.

Our photoluminescent exit signs absorb ambient light and re-emit it using an industrial-grade glow-in-the-dark pigment. Photoluminescent exit signs last up to 25 years and are ideal for applications where ambient light is present, such as offices and other commercial buildings. The EL-1 series is constructed from durable thermoplastic available in colors of black and white. The EL-1 comes with two 5.4-watt incandescent lamps that operate using a powerful internal nickel-cadmium battery. The EL-1 can be mounted to ceilings, walls, and junction boxes.
